Ruben Laboy was born in New York City, New York. He received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in 1980 and his Master’s Degree from Michigan State University in 1982. He subsequently earned his Juris Doctorate at Rutgers University School of Law in 1993. While a law student, Ruben served as Class Representative of the Student Bar Association in 1992 and interned for the Rutgers Legal Aid Clinic, Rutgers Constitutional Law Clinic and the Rutgers Urban Legal Clinic. He also interned with Honorable Ronald Hedges, a Federal Magistrate in New Jersey. He was admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania in 1993, in New Jersey in 1994 and in Florida in 2004. Prior to attending law school, Ruben taught GED classes to economically disadvantaged youth and provided social services and counseling to abused and neglected children and teenagers. After graduating from law school, Ruben worked for Legal Aid for eight years providing legal services for indigent families. Ruben has worked at DSK Law since 2004.
